The Valley Drive-In is fired up for another season!

It was great to have Kirk Longmire of the Coldbrook and District Lions back on the Early Show this morning to kick off another season of the Valley Drive-In in Cambridge!

The Last Song, starring Miley Cyrus, and Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp are the opening weekend features. It's only $10 for a carload this weekend, a great value, great fun, and the canteen is all set to go, so expect great popcorn and onion rings. The Magic 94.9 Misfits will also be at the gate on your way in with Magic 94.9 Winstickers and prizes.

I'm also looking forward to tomorrow's Kentucky Derby. I'm going with long-shot Homeboykris, with 50-1 odds...because he has the best name. I even have my Kentucky Derby hat made from the office spider-plant picked out to watch the race in...

Magic 94.9's Day with the Cup! ...

...ok it was a mini cup, but it still was the star of some great photo ops :)

Bonnyman Mitsubishi

I was on location at Bonnyman Mitsubishi in New Minas on Saturday, and had a great time experiencing the Mitsubishi lineup with Dealer Principal Matt Bonnyman. We hopped in the 2011 Eclipse Spyder and took a tour through Wolfville and Kentville before returning to the dealership where listeners were awarded with gas cards!

The Spyder sure did fit me well...I think I'll have to try it on again :)

Thanks to Matt for having me, and make sure if you are looking for a great vehicle with the BEST WARANTEE ON THE PLANET...head to Bonnyman Mitsubishi!

Kentville Volunteer Awards Dinner

Magic 94.9 was honoured last night at the Kentville Fire Hall and recieved the Mayor's Corporate Award "In recognition of outstanding volunteerism and community involvement".

Thanks to Kentville Mayor Dave Corkum and the town of Kentville for the award and for letting Magic 94.9 have such a great part in the community!

Earth Day in Berwick!

It was off to Berwick yesterday with fellow Misfit Amanda Milne and Mini Misfit Tyler as we stopped into Springvale Nursuries for a load of Blue Spruce to plant in town!

We met up with Dave Keddy, the Economic Development Co-Ordinator for the Town of Berwick, at Berwick Elementary School and planted trees at the school with the Berwick Elementary GREEN TEAM. They were great!! They did an amazing job helping us plant trees out front of the school, and out in the playground. They were outfitted in T-shirts and planted like pros!

Thanks to Dave for organizing the day, and Paul Grimm (in last pic) of Springvale Nurseries for donating the trees and helping us celebrate Earth Day!

3DTV

Jerry and I were back out in the community yesterday and drove over to Future Shop in New Minas to get a demo of this new 3DTV they have on display. The boys at the store answered all our questions and took the time to give us a great demo of the new technology. In a word...AMAZING. If you've experienced the 'new' 3D at the theatre recently, you know this isn't the old glasses with a blue lens on one side, and a red one on the other. There is still glasses however, and chances are like in the past, these won't be free at the bottom of a box of Frosted Flakes anytime soon, since they alone will run you about $250 bucks.

But the Picture and effect is awesome, and to think the TV itself will turn any high-def signal, and your current 2D movie collection and video games 3D...(including HD sports channels!!!! Can you say NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS IN 3D?!!)...this is something I'm saving my empties money for :)

Ball Hockey Anyone?

With all of the controversy and opinion surrounding ball hockey in the province over the last week, Jerry Neville and myself thought we'd have an impromptu road hockey game in Kentville.
On short notice, thanks to Kevin Bennett and the town of Kentville, we made it happen...and it became national news!
Check out CTV's Live@5 Facebook page or CBC Halifax for the story. Here's the Live@5 facebook link...http://www.facebook.com/pages/CTVs-Live-at-5/323660920495
