3DTV

Jerry and I were back out in the community yesterday and drove over to Future Shop in New Minas to get a demo of this new 3DTV they have on display. The boys at the store answered all our questions and took the time to give us a great demo of the new technology. In a word...AMAZING. If you've experienced the 'new' 3D at the theatre recently, you know this isn't the old glasses with a blue lens on one side, and a red one on the other. There is still glasses however, and chances are like in the past, these won't be free at the bottom of a box of Frosted Flakes anytime soon, since they alone will run you about $250 bucks.

But the Picture and effect is awesome, and to think the TV itself will turn any high-def signal, and your current 2D movie collection and video games 3D...(including HD sports channels!!!! Can you say NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS IN 3D?!!)...this is something I'm saving my empties money for :)

Ball Hockey Anyone?

With all of the controversy and opinion surrounding ball hockey in the province over the last week, Jerry Neville and myself thought we'd have an impromptu road hockey game in Kentville.
On short notice, thanks to Kevin Bennett and the town of Kentville, we made it happen...and it became national news!
Check out CTV's Live@5 Facebook page or CBC Halifax for the story. Here's the Live@5 facebook link...http://www.facebook.com/pages/CTVs-Live-at-5/323660920495

First Look...

Jerry Neville and myself were invited to take a tour of the new Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick yesterday, and we were very impressed! It is going to be a state-of-the-art facility with all of the latest gadgets and gizmos from fancy dressing rooms to a radiant in-floor track around the top of the rink.

I was also excitied to be a part of the very first face-off where centre-ice will be!

Thanks to Roscoe Construction...and Bob Best for lending Jerry and I some killer poop-plastered steel-toe footwear!

Bye Bye Texas Stadium

More than 20,000 people gathered at tailgate parties and other spots Sunday to watch fireworks go off one last time over Texas Stadium before a ton of dynamite lit up the Dallas Cowboys' longtime home and brought it to the ground. The building was demolished in a planned implosion set off by the 11-year-old winner of an essay contest.

The Cowboys played 38 seasons in Texas Stadium, winning five Super Bowls during that time.... Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys and the stadium lease for $160 million in 1989. Driving by before dawn Sunday, he said he got a lump in his throat. The blast itself turned out to be emotional, "more so than I thought it would be." His daughter and granddaughter both cried.

It's New Release Tuesday!

Big day for Blu-Ray fans like myself. The Original Lord of the Rings Trilogy is finally released in HD glory today. A young hobbit named Frodo Baggins inherits a magic ring from his elderly cousin Bilbo...and the magic begins.

I'm also looking forward to "SLASH" the first solo record from the ex Guns 'N Roses guitarist which features some living rock legends from yesterday and today. Slash shares the spotlight with artists such as Ozzy, Chris Cornell, Kid Rock, Fergie and Adam Levine of Maroon 5. It's getting great reviews and I hope to have mine on here soon.

Until then, these suggestions should keep you entertained and help with yard work procrastination.

Back to the grind!

Hey! I hope you had a great Easter...the weather couldn't have been better, it was a great weekend to get a little yard work done and spend time with family and friends. As always, there was way more than enough food at the Easter dinner table, so much so that I had to share a pic I took of the leftovers in the fridge.
Hats off to Lawrencetown, and the town's bid to become Kraft Hockeyville. The show of support, over 733-thousand strong, was amazing and even though Dundas, Ontario came away with the honours, Lawrencetown did become a "Hockeyville" during the contest. Way to go Lawrencetown!
