O.T. Thriller!

Well the weather outside was frightful...but the result on Acadia ice was delightful...okay a song-writer I am not...but i do know a great hockey game when I see one, and last night fit in that category. The Axemen came back after being down 1-0 to the visiting Dal Tigers, and got the Acadia Arena faithful to their feet after a thrilling 2-1 overtime win!

The Great Eagle Watch...and an invasion of Len's Den...

It was a great weekend for the Sheffield Mills Eagle Watch...it was a little brisk...but the eagles were out in fine form...although I was disappointed I didn't see Don Henley anywhere. I missed the chicken feed too...although I caught a glimpse of one of the glorious birds proudly flying away with an observers' Yorkshire Terrier...okay...it might have been a chicken...it was too far away to tell.
I also found myself back at Acadia Arena cheering on the Acadia Axemen...as they beat the visiting UPEI Panthers 6-2. I would say the highlight of the weekend though, was the photo opportunity with the Voice of the Axemen, Len Hawley...always a proud moment for him too I'm sure.

Acadia Happenings!

It was a busy night at Acadia!!

The Police Association All-Stars and Tim Horton's All-Stars entertained the crowd at Acadia arena, as they took to the ice in a fun, comedic display of hockey fun. Jo and Jerry were on hand to take in the action, while I was next Door at War Memorial Gymnasium, cheering on Acadia's basketball teams!

The women played great...winning their 4th straight! Coach Bev Greenlaw has his team playing the best hoops I've seen them play in a long time, and last night proved that in a 69-43 thumping of the visiting St. Mary's Huskies.

The men had a tough challenge on the court against the Huskies, led most of the game, but couldn't hang on through the closing minute, dropping a heart-breaking 82-80 decision to St. Mary's.

This weekend The Axemen return to the ice with two games on tap...tonight against UNB, and tomorrow night against UPEI. Both should be great tilts, hope to see you there! And don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item to the game, as Magic 94.9 and Acadia are holding the First Annual Acadia Athletics Food Bank Drive!

Terry Thomas...Forever Missed...

Many enjoyed working with him, and hearing his educated and informative opinions everyday on our radio stations. He is why I am in radio today, and I had the added privilege of calling him "Dad".
Nine years ago today we all lost a special person.
Forever missed and never forgotten.
