Happy 31st Anniversary Frasers!
I was on location Saturday for Fraser's Pro Home Centre's 31st Anniversary Sale, where they Voted "No" to the tax for one day only. We had great prizes throughout the day, including a $400 swing rocker for two, for which we awarded to Troy and Heather Spicer of Berwick for sharing the same April 29th anniversary of Prince William and Kate and providing a marriage certificate for proof!
Congrats to Fraser's for 31 great years and counting!

It was a great run boys...great run.
No need to hang your head Reimer, you carried the team on your back to the seemingly impossible place early in the season, and that is in the hunt right to the very end of the NHL season. As for the Leafs this season...there was something different. That's why, I share the opinion of Toronto Star blogger Vinay Menon...I don't feel like this is the end, a day after they were eliminated from playoff contention...but truly a new beginning.

I'm still trying to figure out the perfect amount of-milk-to-Kraft Dinner ratio...
Could Einstein's Theory of Relativity be a few mathematical equations away from being disproved? Jacob Barnett of Hamilton County, Ind., who is just weeks shy of his 13th birthday, thinks so. And, he's got the solutions to prove it.
Barnett, who has an IQ of 170, explained his expanded theory of relativity — in a YouTube video. His mother Kristine Barnett, who admittedly flunked math, did what every other mother would do if her genius son started talking mathematical gibberish. She told him to explain the whole thing slowly while she taped her son explaining his take on the theory.

It takes balls to play this instrument...
This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind up in
the catcher cones.
This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between
the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick
School of Engineering at the University of Iowa.
Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere
Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft, Iowa...
Yes, farm equipment!
It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment,
calibration, and tuning before filming this video, but as you can
see it was well worth the effort.
It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the
University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian....
...or it's CGI and you can find it at animusic.com. :)

Meet Helena! Helena is looking for a home. Find out how you can make Helena a member of your family by visiting www.kingscountyspca.com
We also talked about Angelina this morning on the Early Show. Angelina has been at the shelter since November 5th, 2010, with what can be described as a "catitude". She has a persnickity personality, but loaded with charm. Recently it was discovered that she had suffered a previous injury, which tends to cause her pain at times, but surely doesn't slow her down.
Angelina needs to find her forever home and one which can provide special loving care, one best with older children and no other cats or dogs.
Her adoption fee has been lowered to $50. Please call the shelter for further info 538-9075.

"Pray for Japan"
As I talked about this morning on The Early Show, Lady Gaga rallied her Little Monster minions around a Gaga-designed five-dollar red-and-white prayer bracelet with "Pray for Japan" printed in both English and Japanese.
In the space of 48 hours, she raised a quarter of a million dollars with all proceeds going to tsunami relief.

One and a Half Men
So Charlie Sheen is officially out, fired from "Two and A Half Men". So who to replace him? Do you replace him? Do you end the show. The answer to that seem to be mixed, with a few good suggestions.
It has been rumoured that John Stamos has been contacted to see if he has any interest in playing the "Charlie" role...and the latest rumour today has Rob Lowe being thrown in the mix.
Lea on my Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=785685124), suggested Robert Downey Jr. today. I love this suggestion...he'd be perfect, but would he take the pay-cut to move to the small screen. I mean could he 'survive' on 2-mil an episode?! I doubt it...but it would make for a great show. It sure would be better than not replacing Sheen, and leaving Jon Cryer with the kid...One and A Half Men just doesn't have the same ring to it.

MISFITS ON ICE
How did my ankle not break at this angle...
The Middleton Monarch’s defeated the Misfits (Sunday night) last night 7-6. Chad Bent
and Josh Hill were outstanding in net for the Monarch’s . Robert Bruce
led all goal scorers with a natural hat trick for the Monarchs.
Inness Irvine led the Misfits scoring attack with 2 goals. And Mike
Mitchell’s 7 season scoring drought came to and end with an
empty net goal in the second period. All proceeds from this exhibition hockey
game went to the ‘food bank, arena and the Middleton hockey team.

10 year old from Toronto catches the eyes and ears of Simon Cowell...
Simon Cowell has a new addition to his record label after signing a youngster who has become an online phenomenon.
Heather Russell, a 10-year-old from Toronto, has racked up a devoted following on video sharing website YouTube.com with her performance of self-penned track Every Step Of The Way.
And Cowell is clearly a fan - he's snapped up Russell for the roster at his label Syco after meeting the talented schoolgirl.
A spokesperson for the firm says, "Simon loved her. He said she was amazingly talented."

Snowshoe Challenge
Here we are...Sales Misfits Lisa Mitton and Amanda Brule with Jerry and I getting ready for the challenge.
...heading out on the Kentville walking trail...I should have known Mayor Corkum was up to something...
...it started with a friendly snowshoe trickery...
...continuing the trickery...I believe that's my snowshoe under yours Mr. Mayor...
...which finished with a hip-check that sent Mayor Corkum to victory...I lost track of Neville...but I think he was back scavenging for sunflower seeds at the bird sanctuary.
Here I am with Mitton accepting my defeat...while Mayor Corkum digests his moral victory in the background.
...after the race, the real battle began through the frozen tundra of the Kentville Soccer field...as you can see, Neville and Mayor Corkum were no match for this poster-boy for heart health.
Kevin Bennett and Mark Phillips following their victorious Mayor.
Jerry and Mayor Corkum enjoying their victory sodas.
Magic 94.9's Jerry Neville and Kentville Mayor Dave Corkum challenged Kevin Bennett from Kentville Recreation and myself to a snowshoe race on the Kentville Walking Trails yesterday. Who won the race? It depends on who you ask...but lets just say after a hip-check from the Mayor, it was still a photo finish...unfortunately no one captured the photo.

Golden Globes
The Social Network was the big winner at last night's Golden Globes. The tale of Facebook's founding nabbed Best Drama, Best Director for David Fincher, Screenplay for Aaron Sorkin, and Musical Score for Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Glee was the big winner in the TV categories, with awards for the show, and stars Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer.
HOST HIGHLIGHTS
- With a pint of beer in hand, host Ricky Gervais got right into the Charlie Sheen jabs. Gervais promised a night of "partying and heavy drinking, or as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast." Gervais also targeted the Johnny Depp-Angelina Jolie bomb The Tourist, introduced Bruce Willis as "Ashton Kutcher's dad, Robert Downey, Jr. as best known from rehab and county jail, and let us know that Sandra Bullock hates poor people. The stars were largely not thrilled with the Brit's brutal jokes, including his implication that Tom Cruise is gay. Downey told the audience, "Aside from the fact that [Gervais has] been mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I'd say the vibe of the show has been pretty good." Tom Hanks and Tim Allen opined at the podium. "We recall when Ricky Gervais was a slightly chubby and kindly comedian," said Hanks. "Neither of which he is now," added Allen. Gervais closed the night by thanking God for making him an atheist.
MOVIES
- Natalie Portman won for Black Swan in the drama category. Annette Bening was the comedy winner for The Kids Are All Right, setting up an inevitable Oscar fight in the Best Actress category. Portman thanked her co-star, Mila "Sweet Lips" Kunis, in accepting her win.
- Christian Bale took the night's first trophy, for his supporting role in The Fighter. His co-star Melissa Leo followed suit.
- Colin Firth won Best Actor in a drama for The King's Speech.
- The Social Network writer Aaron Sorkin semi-apologized to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, noting Zuckerberg's business achievements and philanthropic efforts.
- Robert DeNiro did a bit of uncharacteristic stand-up comedy as he read from a teleprompter to accept his lifetime achievement award from presenter Matt Damon.
- Michael Douglas, who presented an award to The Social Network, got an extended standing ovation for having cancer. Mark Wahlberg could be seen rolling his eyes in the audience. Douglas quipped, "There's gotta be an easier way to get a standing ovation."
TV
- Chris Colfer said he dropped his heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore on the way to accepting his win for Glee. Co-star Jane Lynch said she's "nothing if not falsely humble," in accepting her supporting actress win.
- Steve Buscemi complained about the music cut-off, and got an extra-long acceptance time for Best Actor in Boardwalk Empire. The orchestra backed off for the rest of the night. The HBO Prohibition-era series also nabbed Best Drama, ending Mad Men's run as the awards show darlings.
- Katey Sagal won Best Actress in the drama category for Sons of Anarchy. She was previously nominated for Married with Children.
- Al Pacino picked up a trophy for the HBO assisted-suicide drama You Don't Know Jack.
- Jim Parsons followed his recent Emmy with a comedy win for The Big Bang Theory.
- Justin Bieber: "Halle Berry was at my table."
- Eva Longoria: "Yes I am sitting next to Zac Efron. I'm sure millions of young girls are very jealous right now!"
- Sarah Silverman: "The way Christian Bale's arm is around his wife reads like she probably can't take a [crap] without his okay."
- Chris Colfer: "I'm not sure how much my shaky hands can tweet, but thank you so much!"
- Sharon Osbourne: "Ricky Gervais is so irreverent and rude and I absolutely adore him. He says what people are thinking."
- Sofia Vergara: "Me robaron la corona." (They stole the crown from me.)
- Ryan Seacrest: "Some [celebrities] are eating. More are drinking."
- Patton Oswalt: "Is NO ONE going to thank [Marky Mark's] The Funky Bunch?"
- Jane Fonda: "Whew! Did my part to intro to Burlesque clip. Was backstage with Helen Mirren. We were both nervous."
- Tyra Banks: "I love how you can really see what the actors are feeling on their faces. Any disappointments? Who do you wish won?"
- Kim Kardashian: "So many beautiful women at the Golden Globes! Everyone looked stunning! My favs -- January Jones, Mila Kunis, J-LO, Angelina Jolie."
