"Don't Forget Your Towel" Wrap-up Party

Congrats to Debbie and Robert Brown of Grafton!! Debbie and Robert were the Grand Prize Winners of an Above Ground Pool Package from JC's Hot Tubs and Pools on Saturday. Glen from Rona Cash and Carry provided a great "dry" location for our wrap-up party keeping our qualifiers and their family and friends out of the steady rain!

Debbie was working, so Robert was pleased to accept the prize on his wife's behalf!

Qualifier Gaye Coolen of Gaspereau Mtn. didn't forget her towel, or her fancy bikini t-shirt. She thought I should try it on...let's just say it looked A LOT better on her :)

Thanks to you...and all of our listeners and qualifiers, and to Rona and JC's for a great summer promotion!!

Keep listening and visiting magic949.ca for more ways to win with Magic 94.9!

Farmer's Challenge

...It makes me dizzy again just watching it...

Danyl Johnson...Soon to be a Household Name...

I think we'll be hearing a lot more from this guy...and so does Simon...

Simon Cowell was recently won over by a contestant on the U.K's The X Factor. Danyl Johnson dazzled Cowell so much with his rendition of The Beatles' With a Little Help from My Friends that the singer earned a standing ovation from Cowell. "That was single-handedly the best first audition I have ever heard," Cowell said. "He could be one of the best contestants we've ever had," he added.

Wild Bill

I was out on the Eastern Shore yesterday as Bill went through...luckily there wasn't too much damage...

That's a Wrap!

What an amazing Annapolis Valley Exibition in Lawrencetown last week! It was a great success, the weather couldn't have been better and neither could have the entertainment! The Stampeders were great guys, and put on a HUGE show! Organizers said that Friday night's concert was the BIGGEST EVER at the Riverside Concert Stage, and I can believe it!
After my experience and participation in the Farmer's Challenge, which in fact turned out to be a strong man challenge...(yes..I know what your thinking...Hunter...strong man contest???! I know I was equally shocked and seemingly out of place), Jerry and I were happy to bring the Stampeders on stage.
All-in-all a great week, and it was great to meet many of you!

Rodeo Night at the Ex!

It was a great rodeo this year at the Annapolis Valley Exibition in Lawrencetown...Brian Mumford didn't get injured on a steer...so all went well! The only thing Mumfy hurt was his pride I think, when he rode out to an under-whelming 1.3 seconds...which was 1.3 seconds longer than I would ever attempt, so no worries Champ...you made us fellow Misfits proud. After the steer-riding contest, our two Amanda's...Milne and Misner entertained the crowd in the wheel-barrow races. This was something to see, especially with Misner not being the biggest of fans of the four-legged animal known as a horse. They both did great, too bad it was late and too dark for my pictures to turn out. I did however catch the ladies before they entered the ring. And there was also a candy-apple eating contest between Jo and Amber Daley (sales Misfit)...I believe it was a draw by the red dye on their faces :)
Tonight...it's The Stampeders and the Farmers Challenge. I'm taking on Jerry Neville in what should be a terrible display of farming skills. I hear Neville is already shaking in his spurs...

Wild and Woolie...

It's Wild and Woolie Sheep Rodeo day at the Annapolis Valley Ex in Lawrencetown! Brian Mumford from the Maritime News Network will return to the Main ring tonight on the back of a giant steer...I wish him well. The two Amanda's...Milne and Misner will represent the Misfits proudly tonight in the Wheelbarrow races. This will be something to see, and yes...there will be many a picture taken. Check in tomorrow!

Annapolis Valley Exibition is underway!

What a great start to the Ex in Lawrencetown! It was hot on the grounds yesterday, but everyone was still excited for another great week at the 83rd Annual Annapolis Valley Exibition. I spent the afternoon cruising around checking out the vendors and 4H'ers getting set for their events in the ring. I picked up a cowboy hat, then set off for the Grand Street Parade, which was VERY well attended. I had a great time meeting many of you, and had a big laugh when one lady thought I was Saturday night's entertainment, Shane Yellowbird! I'll hope to see you back at the Ex!

Time to visit the Ex...

Annapolis Valley Exibition that is!

Last year was the first time I had been to the Ex, and it was a blast, so I can't wait to get back! Len Hawley's rolling studio...Brian Mumford's steer-riding...Jerry and Andrews singing dance numbers...I know this year extravaganza will not disappoint. Throw in the Stampeders, rachel Maclean, the Spinney's and Shane Yellowbird and we have ourselves a party. I have to add a belt buckle to the wardrobe this year...it will be a tough decision to make...so many vendors so many to choose from...
Fellow Misfit Lisa Smith, finally became a Pudsey on the weekend! (pics from PudStock above). Congrats to Lisa and Pud! We celebrated to the wee hours, before getting up early and heading to Upper Clements Parks on Sunday. The weather couldn't have been better! Congrats to Nicki Lee who won this week's prize and won a spot to compete in the ParkPalooza Final August 30th!

...off to the Ex...look for pics tomorrow!

Miracle Treat Day!

It's Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen Restaurants, and the Magic 94.9 Winsticker Patrol is pleased to be a part of it! Catch us at DQ in New Minas at 11:00am with stops later at DQ Greenwood, and DQ Digby. Treat yourself to a tasty Blizzard, and $1 dollar or more will go to the Children's Miracle Network and the I.W.K.. Last year, DQ raised a total of $4.5 million dollars for kids in need, and this year we can do even better!

Jerry Neville hopes to try every flavour of Blizzard today...he's been building up his lactose tolerance, so I wish him all the best...and I also wish I wasn't travelling in the same vehicle with him...regardless...way to go Neville! (too bad he has to eat them all through a straw...that'll suck...ahem.)

Magic 94.9 Winsticker Patrol location...

Skate or Die Dudes! The Magic 94.9 Winsticker patrol invades the Greenwood Mall today at Limitless until 1:00! Get your winsticker and some great skate gear from Evan and the gang at Limitless today. If only there was an indoor half-pipe that could showcase Jerry Neville's mad skills. http://limitlessskate.com/store.html

Talk about hero-to-zero for Patrick Kane. The Chicago Blackhawk's poster boy has been accused of beating up a cabbie for 20 cents in change. If only he was that tough on the ice.

Two reviews and Sid the Kid

First off a review of "The Soloist" starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. You will see rows of this new title at the video store. Keep walking. I was very disappointed after seeing this one. Both performances were just "ok". Very bland, and slow moving without caring a lick about the characters is how I was left feeling after this 2-hour snore-fest.

G.I.Joe on the other hand...was great. It was what I expected going in...action-packed...far-fetched...and fun. As a fan of the cartoon, action figures and comic books as a kid, It was very fun to see Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow and the other characters in "real-life" form. If you are expecting a rich plot, and Academy Award-like performances...go rent Shawshank Redemption. If you want to leave your brain at the door, and escape for two hours into a world of explosions, cheesy lines (true to the comic) and great action, check it out...and bring the kids...they'll love it too. (there is a few s-bombs, but all-in-all the film is fairly PG rated.

Thanks to our sales guy Ron Deluney who forwarded me this picture of Sid at the Dockyard.
Congrats Sid the Kid! Wow! 40,000 people showed up to Sidney Crosby's Stanley Cup Parade! It was great to see such community support, and it was equally as impressive seeing Sydney show as much love back. From the Dockyards to Cole Harbour Place where he grew up as a budding young hockey prodigy, Sid never seems to forget where he came from, and for a young NHL star that's huge, and I hope he wins a bunch more.
