The Weekend that was...

The "Gamer Geeks" emerged from their parent's basement! Catch them Tuesday mornings at 7:35 am on the Magic 94.9 Early Show!

Dave McKeage...Executive Director of Brigadoon...why we were all there...it was his dream that has become reality. (For more on Brigadoon, see blog entry below).

the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union "Briga-BOOM" potato launcher...responsible for some serious projectile produce.

Gamer Geeks Czar and Ronin with the Misfit Potato Howitzer...classic design = serious distance.

The generosity, spirit and enthusiasm here in the Valley still amazes me. Whenever there is a need for help and support, be it a fundraiser for Brigadoon, or to even help a local dance team fulfill their dreams, the Valley always seems to come together and dig deeper to help in any way it can. This past weekend was a perfect example.
Brigadoon's Camp out for Kids was a great event I and my fellow Magic 94.9 Misfits had the pleasure of being a part of. Together with many local businesses and organizations, we were able to raise $49, 582! Plus, new to Camp Out this year, the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union took part and made a $10,000 donation to Brigadoon! They also brought with them the biggest, baddest potato launcher known to man. "The Briga-Boom" was so impressive that I'm sure Camp Aldershot is interested in the design.

The Gamer Geeks however, did not show any signs of potato-gun envy, as Czar and Ronin, normally confined to their parents' basement, came out and represented the Misfits proudly with a first-place finish in the hand-held launcher category.

Thanks to all of the teams for a great time, and for their unbelievable generosity.

I also happened to catch Dance ConXion at their fundraising car wash on Sunday, so I had to stop by for a wash and a picture with the girls, who have been invited to attend a huge dance World Cup in Vancouver over the Canada Day Weekend! Good luck girls!
