Swine Flu and 747 scares...

After being at home yesterday for "flu-like" symptoms, it was a little nerve-racking watching the news and seeing how the Swine flu had hit close to home, with 4 students confirmed with the virus at Kings Edgehill. It all reminds me of the SARS scare that hit Toronto a few years back, except this virus tends to be spreadng to greater corners of the world. It's too bad that Mexican tourism is going to take a hit...and I would think Speedy Gonzalez is going to have a tough time on the dating circuit as well. At least eating pork has nothing to do with the virus, which is a relief...because I don't know what I'd do without my Mexican tube steaks.

Just when our American friends are dealing with a brutal economy, pirates taking over freightliners and this Swine flu scare, the U.S. Government of all times, thought it would be a good idea to have a 747 painted up like Air Force One and a couple of fighter jets fly over downtown Manhatten for a few pictures...without letting the public know...causing wide-spread panic. Way to go. Apparently U.S. President Obama wasn't happy about it...either were the hundreds of businesses that evacuated their offices in preparation for the worst. Louis E. Caldera, director of the White House Military Office who allowed this to happen should have to spend the next 6 months as a tour guide at the Statue of Liberty for that gaffe.

Get out there and enjoy today's sunshine, and I'll catch you back here on Magic 94.9 tomorrow for the Early Show starting at 5:30am :)

It's FRIDAY!!!

It was great to have Jim Vidito from Eden Golf and Country Club on the show this morning! With the warm weather on the way...it just makes me feel better at least 'thinking' about golf...

I hope to see you tomorrow at Leon's in Kentville! I'll be on location visiting the gang there from 10:00-2:00...and tell you all about the HUGE savings on everything in the store!

"Lap of Luxury" continues on Monday's Early Show, with a new weekly prize of $200 dollars in gift certificates from the Clothesline Factory outlet! ...I'd spend it all on tube socks...but that's just me.

It was a mediocre day in entertainment news...

According to Colorado police, Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman had shots fired at him during an attempted apprehension of a murderer. Apparently, Chapman was using the 'Business up front' portion of his mullet for this one.

Actress Mia Farrow has decided to go on a hunger strike on account of the crisis in Darfur. Yeah, you know, if there's one thing that's gonna stop massive widespread genocide ... it's a hunger strike by someone who couldn't even stop Woody Allen from straying.

And, David Blaine proposed to his French model girlfriend Alizee Guinochet. Instead of going down on one knee, he asked for her hand in marriage while hanging from an underwater crane encased in a block of ice after having not eaten for 30 days. At least she'll never be bored.

I can't wait for the weekend weather! I plan to dig out my Golf Clubs from the basement and clean them up for a new season of sub-100 golf...everyone can dream. In honour of that, I'll have Jim Vidito on the show tomorrow...he's the new manager at Eden Golf and Country Club and will join me for a chat just after 8:30 to discuss his new role and tell us how the course is shaping up this year...I sure hope they made the holes bigger to give me a fighting chance...

It's a big day for home movie buffs today...Season 11 of "Dallas" hits video!!!! Although that may be exciting for some...I keed. "The Wrestler" is worth getting excited about, a movie I can't wait to add to my Blu-Ray collection, and I'm sure if you were a fan of the movie, you will be too. If you didn't get a chance to see, what I thought was the year's best picture, today is your chance as it is released today on DVD.

What a crazy story about the folks at the Nascar race trying to break a harmless Guiness World Record huh? If you missed the show today, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) filed a complaint against KFC after race fans at Talladega Motor Speedway tried to break the Guiness Record for most people performing the "Chicken Dance" at the same time. PETA thinks KFC and people doing the "Chicken Dance" is degrading to chickens. Funny, the last time I asked a chicken if the funky chicken bothered him...the chicken didn't seem to mind. I'm just waiting for the new PETA ad campaign featuring Pam Anderson in a chicken suit.

Don't forget Tomorrow is Secr...Administrative Professionals day! Visit http://www.magic949.ca/ to enter your Administrative Assistant for an Office Ambush :)

I had a great time at the Kentville Home Show at the Kentville Centennial Arena over the weekend! It was great to see and speak to many of you...and see all of the vendors that had their expertise and products on display.

Scary situation in Jamaica this morning huh?? Thankfully all the passengers weren't harmed and police were able to take control of the plane and the mentally unstable young man who demanded cash and a free ride to Cuba...apparently his frequent flyer miles had expired. Can you imagine being one of the 25 members of the wedding party from New Brunswick who were on board...there's a wedding they will never forget!

Live in the Lap of Luxury continued today...Canadian Passengers held hostage...Madonna fell off of a horse...I can't wait for what tomorrow brings to the Early Show...

...now I think it's time to clean out the bottom of the fridge...

Road Trip

...a few pics from T.O...from the Hard Rock Cafe...(notice Gord Downie's (Hip) jacket...:) Blue Jays practice at the Roger's Centre, and The Raptors game at the ACC...The Raptor's TV Crew getting set for "GAME DAY".

Great to be back...

It was great to be back behind the mic this morning after my road trip to Ontario. I took in a Raptors game, saw the Blue Jays practice, and even saw Kim Mitchell host his afternoon show on Q107 while enjoying lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. Oh yes..I saw family and friends too, and I took zoodles of pictures. I'll post some as soon as I can figure out how to convert poloroids into digital images.

My first time playing Lap of Luxury was a lot of fun this morning...and if you haven't had a chance to play it yet...don't forget to listen for the Listen and Win Cue-to-Call for your chance to qualify for great prizes from Holland Home Leisure and Swiss Chalet New Minas twice daily on Magic 94.9!

...now I must go spend time with Stewart...I hear he really missed me while I was away...

April Fools, and a Fool on the Road...

April Fools went off without a hitch...although Jerry Neville and I only hooked a few into believing Magic had switched formats this morning to "All Polka"...although one never knows what the future holds :)

I'm looking forward to heading to Windsor today for the Grand Opening of the new Hart Department Store at the Fort Edward Mall. I'll be there on location from 1-4pm and I hope to see you there!

This picture was in my in-box this morning...I thought you'd enjoy it. Feel free to email me one of your own for future blogs! hunter.brule@magic949.ca!
