Not a good bet to lose...

I have to say that this is the worst bet I've ever lost. Jerry Neville and I had a running bet to see who could accumulate the most steps on our Walkabout pedometers in a two-weed span. He won. By a lot. To add insult to injury, Kevin Bennett and Neville set up a photo op. of me in the Habs jersey in the arena's new Montreal dressing room. Both Bennett (as a Habs faithful) and Neville enjoyed sweet victory. Neville would like to thank the gang at Cleve's Source For Sports in New Minas for the jersey...I would like to go hide. The moral of this story...never make a bet based on a steps with someone who can never sit still.

The bright spot to the day was that Liz from the Swimwear Hut joined me as my co-host today, and it was a blast! She gave away tons of prizes today, and had tons of fun with me on the show. (Thanks to KC's Pub in Coldbrook for driopping off coffee and prizes too!) Thanks Liz! Make sure you go see her at the Swimwear Hut, across from McDonald's in New Minas...and have lunch today at KC's. I am sorry however...that they all had to see me in these terrible colours :(

That's all I can write...I suddenly don't feel well...

It's not looking good...

With Jerry Neville ahead of me by 20,000 steps going into the final day of our Heart&Stroke Walkabout step challenge, it looks like I will have to suffer through a day of wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey and having a photo taken to show for it. The official numbers revealed tomorrow morning at 7:35.

Speaking of tomorrow's Early Show...be sure to tune in for the Official Early Show Beach Party with Liz from the Swimwear Hut! She'll be co-hosting the show with me and we'll have great prizes for you to win all morning!

Caddy for Daddy

This shot had ugly written all over it...

This picture kills me haha! Amanda may have missed that shot, but she did carry me all day long :)

The Form!

A great meal to wrap up the day.

Caddy for Daddy was a great time yesterday in Paradise! Charlie Newcomb was our winner and enjoyed a round of golf with Jerry Neville, Amanda Milne from our Sales Dept, and myself at Eden Golf and Country Club! It was a 4-player, 2-man scramble...and while Amanda and I jumped out to a commanding 4-stroke lead early on, Neville and Charlie finished in dramatic fashion, pulling even with their last putt on the 18th, saving them a few bucks at the club house at the end of the day.
Thanks to the great group at Eden for all their hospitality...and if you haven't played Eden yet and your a golfer...make sure you plan to take in a round there before the summer's out...it was in AMAZING shape, and tons of fun (even for a challenged golfer like me :).
Thanks to our sponsors and hosts at Eden Golf and Country Club, and the End of the Line Pub in Bridgetown. I can't wait to go back!

Kentville Arena adds NHL Flavour

If you are a fan of the NHL...you are going to love the new dressing rooms at the Kentville Centennial Arena! Kevin Bennett is the Facilities Manager for the Town of Kentville and joined me on the Early Show this morning to fill us in on the newly designed and decorated dressing rooms...modeled after NHL team franchises. They will be unveiled at a special ceremony September 7th. Until then, Kevin left me with a couple of pictures, a 'sneak peak' if you will, to hold us over until then...

RBC Mud Creek Days Talent Show and Paddy's Pub

Here's a few pics and a couple of videos of my Paddy's Pub remote and Talent Show. Please forgive the quality of the audio from my camera...I think it was water-logged from the rain!

The Event was a huge success! All of the entries displayed amazing talents...as a judge it was really tough to narrow down a winner. At the end of the evening it was nine-year-old Chantel Peng who took home the $500 dollar first prize from RBC. Laura Roy, walked away as the clear People's Choice winner of $300 dollars. I couldn't be happier for our winners, they were most deserving...and thanks to Laura for joining me on my remote at Paddy's Pub before the show!

Mud Creek Talent

Congrats to Chantel Peng, our $500 winner of the RBC Mud Creek days Talent show in Wolfville Friday night. Laura Roy took home $300 as the People's Choice winner. Check back here later today for pictures and video of the event!

Adios Gidget...

Gidget, the Chihuahua best known for her Taco Bell ad campaign, died from a stroke on Tuesday night at age 15. The mostly retired actor lived out her days laying in the California sun eating bean burritos and hanging out with Cheech and Chong. Some of Gidgets famous quotes are found here...

OLP and a new Raptor

Two things I'm excited about today...Jarrett Jack and Our Lady Peace.

The Raptors added another piece to their puzzle yesterday, signing restricted free agent Jarrett Jack, who had a HUGE season last year with Indiana. So big in fact, he stole the starting PG role from former Raptor T.J. Ford in the latter part of the season. Jack will be awesome playing along side of his former college teammate Chris Bosh. Hopefully this move keeps Bosh around for another contract after this coming season, when he is free to test free agency.

OLP has released their first cd in nearly five years, BURN BURN...and if you are a fan of their previous rock releases from the early 90's Clumsy and Naveed...you will LOVE this disk. I picked it up yesterday, and I haven't been able to press stop on it yet. For an extra $5 bucks I opted for the 2-disc special edition with added videos of their recording sessions...very cool and worth the extra $.

That's all for today...I have an OLP record to get back to...

For the Dogs...

This cartoon is the funniest thing I've seen in a while...next to Jerry Neville running around my studio this morning. Jerry and I have a bet on the table. If I beat him in number of steps counted with our pedometers after two weeks, he has to wear my Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey. If he wins...I have to wear a Habs jersey. I REALLY hope I win. My current count: 7937.
The magic 94.9 WinSticker Patrol is out on the streets again today! Look for us at Kentville Mazda over the lunch hour for your all-new Magic 94.9 Winsticker and a chance to win a pedometer. Neville and I will both be there jogging on the spot with ours on I'm sure.

Middleton's 100th, and ParkPalooza

Another busy weekend in the books!

Middleton was a blast, starting with the Grand Street Parade Friday night. The weather could have been better...it's funny how parades so far this summer seem to be rain magnets, but what can you do. Saturday, the wet weather continued, but the rain decided to give the crowd at Rotary Raceway park a break late afternoon, so it could enjoy the great sounds of Rylee Madison, Slowcoaster and Matt Minglewood. By the time Minglewood took the stage, the park was packed and everyone in attendance was having a great time before we set our eyes to the sky to witness an unbelievable fireworks display. The town of Middleton spared no expense to make sure the 100th anniversary fireworks were amazing, and it surely did not disappoint.

Sunday I was off to Upper Clements Parks for Parkpalooza 2009, and it was another water-logged day for the most part. It rained like I've never seen it rain before in ages when the gates opened at 11:00 a.m., but then the skies later cleared and became a perfect day at the park.

We were treated to some great entertainment inside the tent courtesy of our three competitors, Demi Beaumier, Laura Roy and Kristy Doyle...and by the end of this round, it was the very talented Laura Roy of Canning who walked away with $250 and a chance at $500 at the finale August 31st, and a paid gig at Upper Clements Parks next season. You can hear Laura this Friday, where she will be competing for another cash prize at the RBC Mud Creek Days Talent Show, at the Al Whittle Theatre at 7pm.

Jerry Neville and I kicked off our Heart & Stroke Walkabout Challenge today. For two weeks, we are wearing pedometers and are walkin to win...bragging rights. You can win too! Guess how many steps I'll have at the end of my first day, and you'll win your own Walkabout Pedometer tomorrow morning. Email your guess to hunter.brule@magic949.ca, and the closest guess to the actual number of steps on my pedometer tomorrow morning will win. Make sure to include your contact info. That's it for today...I have to get steppin'...

Happy Birthday Middleton!!

What a busy weekend in store! I hope to see you out tonight in Middleton for the town's 100th birthday celebrations! The Grand Street Parade is set to go for 7:00, then make sure to take the kids to rotary Raceway Park following it, for a great night of youth entertainment.

Saturday the fun starts at 10:30 with the IODE Children's Parade, and the official Cake Cutting Ceremony with free hot dogs and cake at 11:30. This is where I plan on finding Len Hawley...I mean Free Hot Dogs = AVR announcers in attendance. :) Him and I will be at the park throughout the day, enjoying the long list of entertainment starting with Donna and Andy at noon right up to the Fireworks at 10:00. Keep in mind if the rain gets to be too heavy, the concert will be moved to the Middleton Arena. And keep in mind...the event is FREE.
Sunday I'm hosting ParkPalooza at Upper Clements Parks...and judging by the forcast for Sunday...it's going to be a perfect day at the parks! I hope to see you in my travels!
